Halloysite Nanotubes (HNTs)-Filled Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer/Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (EPDM/SBR) Composites: Mechanical, Swelling, and Morphological Properties

Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were incorporated into an EPDM/SBR rubber/styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) composite by melt blending of HNTs the blend. The mechanical properties, abrasion and swelling resistance ranging from 2 parts per hundred (phr) to 10 investigated in base rubber. Tensile strength, 100% modulus (modulus at elongation), elongation break tear strength evaluated ambient temperature using electric universal tensile testing equipment accordance with ASTM D-412. Hardness, determined Shore-A Durometer, DIN abrader immersion techniques, respectively. results show that increasing HNT content increased hardness (stiffness), crosslink density. surface morphology tensile-fractured material was studied field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). According FE-SEM results, most roughness seen filled nano-composites.
